Prenatal Chiropractor in Gilbert, AZ for Pregnancy Back Pain

Prenatal chiropractic for Gilbert patients, in plain terms

Prenatal chiropractic is chiropractic care adapted for pregnancy. At AZ Premier Chiropractic & Rehab, a Queen Creek clinic a short drive from southeast Gilbert, we see pregnant patients who notice back, hip, or pelvic-area discomfort. A first visit starts with your health history, a conversation about what you are feeling, and comfortable positioning.

Pregnancy changes the way a body carries itself, sometimes week by week. If you live in Gilbert and you are wondering what a prenatal chiropractor actually does, this page walks through the general body changes people notice, what a visit with us looks like, and how the drive to our clinic works.

What changes in the back and hips during pregnancy

The following is general education about changes many people notice. Your own experience may look different.

  • Center of gravity. As the belly grows, weight shifts forward. Many people lean back slightly to balance it, which changes how the low back and hips share the load.
  • Posture. The curve of the low back can deepen, and the shoulders and upper back may round forward as the chest changes.
  • Ligaments. During pregnancy, the body releases hormones, including one called relaxin, that loosen ligaments around the pelvis. That flexibility serves a purpose, and it can also make joints feel less steady.
  • Walking and sleeping. A wider stance, a different stride, and fewer comfortable sleeping positions can all change how the hips and back feel by the end of the day.

Where people feel these changes varies. Some describe an ache low in the back near the dimples above the hips. Others feel it on one side of the buttock, along the outer hip, or at the front of the pelvis when rolling over in bed or climbing stairs.

None of these changes is a problem by itself. They are simply the background for many of the back and hip complaints pregnant patients bring to us.

What a prenatal visit with us looks like

At your first visit, we review your health history with you. We ask how far along you are, where you feel discomfort, when it tends to show up, and what your days involve. We also ask about anything your current care team has mentioned that you would like us to know.

Next comes a look at how you move and where things feel tight or tender. Comfort guides the visit. We talk through positioning with you before any adjustment, and we adjust our approach as your body changes. You can ask us to pause, change position, or explain what we are doing at any point.

Once the exam is done, we walk you through our findings and the options we would suggest, in plain language. Our chiropractic services page lists the adjustment styles we use, including traditional manual adjustments and low-force instrument work. Nothing happens without your okay.

Working alongside the care team you already have

Most pregnant patients we see already have an OB, a midwife, or another provider guiding their pregnancy. Chiropractic care with us is not a substitute for that care. It focuses on the joints and muscles of the back, hips, and pelvis.

Many patients choose to keep their care team informed that they are seeing a chiropractor, and some bring notes or questions from those appointments. If there is anything from your other providers that you want us to know, we are glad to hear it.

Car seats, toddlers, and Gilbert Regional Park walks: everyday pregnancy loads

Pregnancy rarely happens in a quiet life. For many Gilbert parents, it happens on top of everything else.

Patients who already have little ones often describe the same few moments. Leaning into the back seat to buckle a toddler into a car seat. Carrying a squirming two-year-old on one hip through a grocery store. Getting down on the floor to play and then getting back up again. These are common situations, and they come up often when people describe when their back or hips feel worst.

Walking is another part of the picture. Gilbert Regional Park, near Higley and Queen Creek Roads, has paved paths that many families use, especially once the weather cools in the fall. Some patients notice their hips more after a longer walk. Others notice their back more after long stretches of sitting, at a desk or in the car, and say getting out of a low car seat becomes its own small project in the later months. Whatever your routine looks like, it is useful context to share at your visit.

Higley and Queen Creek Roads: the Gilbert route to our clinic

We do not have an office in Gilbert. Our clinic is in Queen Creek, AZ 85142, and Gilbert is part of our service area.

From southeast Gilbert, many patients head south on Higley Road or east on Queen Creek Road. Others take the Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) and come southeast from there. Patients from Val Vista Lakes and Cooley Station make the drive too; it is a bit longer from central Gilbert, and we are happy to help you pick a time of day that makes the trip easier, especially later in pregnancy.

FAQ

Should I let my OB or midwife know I'm seeing a chiropractor?

Many patients keep their care team informed about every provider they see during pregnancy, and that includes us. It is your choice, and we are glad to hear anything they have shared with you.

Will I have to lie on my stomach?

We talk through positioning with you before any adjustment, and your comfort guides it. If a position does not feel right, tell us and we will change it.

What should I mention when I call to schedule?

It helps to tell us that you are pregnant, about how far along you are, and where you are feeling discomfort. We will cover the rest of your health history at the first visit.

Do you have a Gilbert office?

No. Our only clinic is in Queen Creek, AZ 85142. Many Gilbert patients reach us by heading south on Higley Road or along Queen Creek Road.

Can my partner come with me to the visit?

Yes, you are welcome to bring a partner or support person. Some patients like having a second set of ears when we explain what we found.
